From the shadows

We had a lovely afternoon recently creating shadowbox cards using a variety of stamps and colours and different dies to create the apertures. The basic shadow box card base is created by cutting a piece of A4 card in half and then scoring at each end at  1/2 " and 1 " on both of the pieces. An aperture is cut from the centre of one of the pieces of card to make the front. You do any stamping and decorating on the back panel before the 2 end 1/2 " sections are stuck together. They are a lovely dimensional card, but they will still fold flat into an envelope.

This first one uses a stamp set that has become a firm favourite - the Birthday Blooms. I also used the happy heart embossing folder. I coloured the stamp with ink and blender pens - I use these more and more.

This second card used the sadly no longer available -"Sky is the Limit". Hopefully you already had yours.

We went back to the annual catalogue and the incredibly useful "Traveler" stamp set for this porthole effect card, with some additional detailing courtesy of "Gorgeous Grunge."

Neutral crumb cake cardstock and the "Bloomin' Heart" die and coordinating "Bloomin' Love" stamp set were used to create this affectionate offering. The heart die collection are unfortunately no longer available.

This final card was created for my sister's birthday at the beginning of the year in vibrant tempting turquoise. I used the mini balloon punch from the party punch pack, the greetings form the "Party Wishes" stamp set and the cake was built up using a selection of washi tape and the cake stand from the "Build a Birthday" stamp set.
